The collection of data shall take place:
- as soon as you visit our website or the website of the FPS Justice. When a link takes you to another portal, site, application, online application, or social network, you must refer to the conditions for processing the personal data of those services;
- when you contact us.
Your personal data is protected in accordance with:
- Regulation (EC) No 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (entered into force on 25 May 2018) on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR)
1.Legal bases and treatment purposes
The FPS ensures that only the data that is strictly necessary for the processing in question is collected. Personal data are collected and processed in order to
- inform you;
- answer your questions;
- process the files that concern you.
Data is also collected and processed anonymously
- for statistical and qualitative purposes, to improve our services;
- to answer you in your language.
If your request for information or service falls within the jurisdiction of another administration, we will give you the contact details of that authority and you will have the choice whether you want to contact the competent administration or not.

Other personal data which may be processed will be included in the data processing register.
Other data that are not personal data are also collected automatically without linking to your IP address, thus respecting your anonymity. They are used to compile statistics and improve the content of:
- choice of language;
- the search engine used;
- keywords used;
- the site where you arrived;
- pages consulted;
- duration of consultation per page;
- list of downloaded files;
- date and time of access;
- navigator used;
- platform and/or operating system installed on your computer;

3. The controller
The FPS Justice, located on Boulevard de Waterloo 115, 1000 Brussels and represented by the Chairperson of the Management Committee, is responsible for the processing of personal data which it carries out in the course of carrying out its legal tasks. This implies that it determines, alone or jointly with others, the purposes and means of processing such personal data.
4.Use of cookies
The website of the Equal Opportunities Unit uses cookies. A cookie is a small file placed by the site visited on your device to allow it to retain certain information about your use of the site during your visit. This information is only used to improve your browsing on the website of the Equal Opportunities Unit.

6. Retention period
The retention period of:
- your IP address is 12 months;
- cookies are 13 months;
- exchanges via the e-mail address Equal@just.fgov.be is 24 months .
Your personal data is not transferred outside the territory of the European Union.
7.Security
The FPS Justice guarantees the security (integrity and confidentiality) of your personal data. They are protected against unauthorised access, illegitimate use, loss and unauthorised modifications.
To do this, we use security techniques and procedures that we do not detail on this page for security reasons.
Be aware, however, that, physically, technically and organizationally, appropriate measures are taken to ensure a level of safety adapted to the risks.
8.Right of access, rectification, portability, opposition, erasure...
You have rights regarding the personal data we use: the right of access, the right of rectification, the right to transfer your data, the right to object, the right to have your data deleted etc.
Your request will be processed within 30 calendar days. If it is a complex matter or our services respond to a large number of requests, this time limit will be extended by 60 days.
