Action Plan Against Racism

Belgium signed the Durban Declaration in 2001, committing itself to developing a National Action Plan against Racism. This National Action Plan against Racism embodies the commitment Belgium made 20 years ago and also responds to the European Commission's request to adopt a National Action Plan against Racism by the end of 2022. It also responds to the Commission's request to ensure that representatives of civil society and equality bodies are involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of national action plans against racism.

On July 15, 2022, the Council of Ministers adopted the federal contribution to the Inter-Federal Action Plan against Racism, led by Secretary of State Sarah Schlitz and Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, with the participation of 8 other members of the government: Frank Vandenbroucke, Vincent Van Quickenborne, Pierre-Yves Dermagne, Georges Gilkinet, Petra De Sutter, Annelies Verlinden, Mathieu Michel and Nicole de Moor.
